When I received a note from Marie Brown about her husband, Rob, I knew he had to be a Man of the Month. This man is a real life hero and what romance is really about, ladies! Rob and Marie met at a party and it was "love at first sight" (this does exist! and it makes my heart flutter!) They just shared their 28th wedding anniversary (and true love does last, too!) They have one son, Steven, an apprenticed technician with Fountain Tire in Red Deer, and a daughter, Lauren, who has a degree in Pharmacy, who is finishing the first year of her Doctorate in Public Health.

Rob, who has a degree in Political Science, was with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Coquitlam, British Colombia, is now with the police service in Lacombe, Alberta, a city of just over 10,000. (I'm SO picturing a romance novel setting) When he's not working, Rob is fishing and biking, cross country skiing and renovating houses.

This is one busy man!

Four years ago, Rob's wife was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. Through two operations and four months of chemo, Rob barely left Marie's side. "He was my rock, always there for me when I could barely get out of bed," Marie says. "Rob cooked meals, did housework and laundry and entertained friends who stopped by. He made sure I had treats and all the books I needed to keep myself entertained."

I don't know about you, ladies, but I teared up and felt my chest tighten when I read this.

Marie also says, "Rob is such a great guy. He is so romantic and has the softest heart I know."

A man's man with a soft heart. How could Rob not be included in my Man of the Month!

Marie also told me that she and Rob love to look for "treasures" at flea markets and auction houses. Seems to me both Rob and Marie have already found their greatest treasure--each other. Thanks so much for sharing your man with us. Here's wishing you and Rob another fifty years!
